Junior Speakers 

Our junior speakers will share insights on their beliefs, definitions of black excellence and more at our event highlights the legacy of Black education in Detroit. 

London Hutchinson

8th Grade Student

London Hutchinson is an 8th grade honor student at Carver STEM Academy, where she is known for her academic excellence, leadership, and positive spirit. A proud Detroit Public Schools Community District student since the 3rd grade, London has grown into a dedicated and driven young scholar.

She is currently preparing to take the next big step in her educational journey, transitioning to high school, with excitement and determination. London is passionate about learning and eager to explore new opportunities that will help her grow academically and personally.

With a strong foundation built through her years in DPSCD, London looks forward to continuing her success and making an impact in high school and beyond.

Isaiah Simmons

8th Grader Student

Isaiah Simmons is an 8th grade honor student at Carver STEM Academy, where he has been a proud member of the school community since the 3rd grade. Over the years, Isaiah has distinguished himself not only through his academic excellence but also through his exceptional leadership skills.

Known for his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to motivate his peers, Isaiah consistently sets a high standard both inside and outside the classroom. His teachers and classmates recognize him as a natural leader who leads by example and uplifts those around him.

As he prepares to transition to high school, Isaiah is focused, confident, and excited about the future. He looks forward to continuing to grow as a student and a leader, committed to making a meaningful impact in his school and community.
